FMCL Launches “Aggregation Program”
On November 7, 2024, FMCL proudly launched the "Aggregation Program," graced by the Honorable Minister of Agriculture & Livestock at Zomlingthang, Guma Gewog, in Punakha Dzongkhag.
This landmark initiative aims to boost Bhutan's agricultural sector by consolidating and distributing essential crops. As part of the Price Guarantee Scheme (PGS) funded through the Economic Stimulus Plan (ESP), the Aggregation Program marks a transformative step for FMCL, which will now focus on aggregating six priority crops: rice, wheat, quinoa, soybean, peanut, and maize. This program seeks to enhance food security, ensure a reliable domestic food supply, and empower farmers across Bhutan with better market access and fair pricing.
Through this initiative, FMCL will provide farmers with stable markets, fair pricing, and support services such as storage and machinery hiring. With warehouses and processing facilities located across Bhutan, the program helps reduce post-harvest losses, improve food quality, and ensure a consistent local food supply. This is a transformative step toward enhancing food security, empowering farmers, and promoting a resilient, self-sufficient agriculture sector in Bhutan.
Together, let’s work for a stronger, sustainable agricultural future for bhutan!
